Anthony James
Founder & Board President
Anthony James is a community composter and environmental advocate committed to transforming how urban neighborhoods manage food waste. He founded Salvage Compost to create accessible composting solutions that support soil health, reduce landfill impact, and empower local residents. Through hands-on education, advocacy, and grassroots organizing, Anthony works to build regenerative systems rooted in equity and sustainability. His mission is to turn waste into opportunity—connecting people, policy, and the planet to create lasting environmental change in underserved communities.

Dr. Danielle Sancho
Board Secretary
Dr. Sancho earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University before obtaining her medical degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she now serves in the outpatient clinic. In addition to her clinical work, she is dedicated to medical education, mentoring residents at St. Christopher’s and medical students at Drexel University.

Rachel Tait
Board Treasurer
Rachel Tait is a Philadelphia-area native who has spent the majority of her professional life working in both the arts and political spheres within the city. A Temple University alumna, she is deeply involved in the arts community and maintains a regular ceramics practice. Her day-to-day work focuses on political organizing and voter advocacy, with the goal of expanding civic participation among young voters across the Commonwealth. Rachel is passionate about building relationships and looks forward to helping expand the reach of Salvage Compost.

Malek Hudson
Board Director
Malek Hudson is a longtime Philadelphia Coffee Professional and Workplace Organizer. As the first President of Workers United Local 80, he oversaw the largest contingent of organized coffee workers anywhere in the nation.
Born and raised in Northeast Philly, Malek's commitment to changing the material conditions of Philadelphians is his driving focus. Currently, Malek is enrolled in a Cyber Security program in an attempt to teach everyday Cybersecurity techniques to other Philadelphians.
